There are few things what you need to keep in mind before to submit your article into the community. First of all, read carefully the page what contain the submission form. Some websites are looking for user news from specific area, css, programming etc. Obvious, if you want to promote your photoshop tutorial, for instance, a website with css profile will never accept your submission, and if you are insistent,  can get a ban.

Even you consider all your articles worth to be read by all the peoples from internet, don’t acting like a mass submitter. When you discover a good source for your exposure, do not submit all your blog articles. Also, be patient and flexible. If your article isn’t published there, don’t take it personally. A good website is filtering their content. Maybe next time you will be published. Sometimes, this can be a reason to review again your articles, to find what can to be improved. There will be always something to do. The originality is not an easy standard.

I like to read (mean links accepted) things related in special to vectors, Photoshop, CSS, WordPress, Joomla, jQuery, After Effects etc. Links will get exposure on user news section and on sidebar for internal pages.

When you are a regular submitter, you’ll learn about each website behavior. On some, links are approved once on few days. That mean if you are at beginning of links submitted, after approval, you will get direct to “page 2″ of section, or something like that. On others, you need to avoid the friday day for your submission (yes, the weekend).

The user links community is not a panacea for your popularity. Your content can be. Work hard, be patient and put pleasure on what you provide in time what you are looking for quality, and in time, your website can have loial readers and not just accidental ones. Look in your stats at how many pages are read by visitors from websited listed above. If almost all are reading just the page clicked, then, you are not on the right way.
