When is talking about a contest with a serious amount of money like prize, probably you are thinking at most top logo designers involved there and you believe that just really good works has chosen like finalists.
You can go ahead with your thinking because nobody will disturb you ever, even the reality. In this case, the reality have a name with a “get” in front. Is talk about getafreelancer.com and contest described here. Starting with today we can enjoy some “masterpieces” choosed to be between finalists. The great list of top 25 logos is presented here.
Few logos from this top will get 1000$ and all of them will be awarded with a “Specialist Logo Designer Insignia”. No, is no joke here and the sun is above illuminating a “daymare”. Is very hard to believe that from hundreds, thousands of entries, somebody can pick some designs like those presented in top 25 (is no matter in this context to talk about some copyrighting infringement from few logos).
Maybe serious designers wasn’t involved, because is very known among logo contests participants that on any contest with big prizes the entries goes crazy messing the minds of contest owners, or a very bad marketing kept away from this contest serious branding companies and freelancers.
What if i am a services buyer looking to have designed a logo for my business and i see this logos cream done for 10.000$ when i have a budget around 500$?!
What about present 15.000$ contest? For 5000$ more, probably more animals will receive attention, from worms to gnu.
PS: the most incredible supposition consist in that many good logo designs has been submited in contest, but was rejected

indeed, i was a little dissapointed myself by the finalist & the final result
i would have expected at least for them to publish a page with all the entries, even if i`m sure they did got alot of crappy stuff
and a blue bird? come on!!! i believe twitter win it`s right to be the only blue bird of internet business (even if its not a hummingbird…) but as freelancer, the hummingbird means absolutely nothig to me… i never ever seen one in my life, i have no idea what it does, how could the idea of a FL be represented by that… grr…
have nothing agains animals in logo, but they should have staid away from a blue bird… even the bunny is better
